<h1 class="topictitle1">Manage the TCP/IP server</h1>
<div><p>This topic collection describes how to manage the DRDA/DDM server
jobs that communicate using sockets over TCP. It describes the subsystem in
which the server runs, the objects that affect the server and how to manage
those resources.</p>
<p>The DRDA/DDM TCP/IP server that is shipped with the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> licensed
program does not typically require any changes to your existing system configuration
in order to work correctly. It is set up and configured when you install <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span>. At some time, you might want
to change the way the system manages the server jobs to better meet your needs,
solve a problem, improve the server's performance, or simply look at the jobs
on the server. To make such changes and meet your processing requirements,
you need to know which objects affect which pieces of the system and how to
change those objects.</p>
<p>This topic collection describes, at a high level, some of the work management
concepts that need to be understood in order to work with the server jobs
and how the concepts and objects relate to the server. In order to fully understand
how to manage your <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> server,
it is recommended that you carefully review the Work management topic before
you continue with this topic collection. This topic collection
then shows you how the TCP/IP server can be managed and how they fit in with
the rest of the system.</p>
