<div><p>You can select an independent disk pool to make it unavailable

(vary it off). </p>

||

<p>You can select an independent disk pool to make it unavailable (vary it
|
||
|
|
off). You cannot access any of the disk units or objects in the independent
|
||
|
|
disk pool or its corresponding database until it is made available (varied
|
||
|
|
on) again. The pool can be made available again on the same system or another
|
||
|
|
system in the recovery domain of the cluster resource group.</p>
|
||
|
|
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Before an independent disk pool can be made unavailable,
|
||
|
|
no jobs can hold reservations on the disk pool. See <a href="rzalyreleasejobs.htm">Release job reservations on an independent disk pool</a>for
|
||
|
|
details on determining whether jobs are using an independent disk pool and
|
||
|
|
how to release the job reservations.</div>
|
||
|
|
<p>When making a UDFS disk pool unavailable using iSeries™ Navigator,
|
||
|
|
messages might be generated that require a response in the character-based
|
||
|
|
interface. iSeries Navigator
|
||
|
|
will not provide any indication that a message is waiting.</p>
|
||
|
|
<div class="p">To make an independent disk pool unavailable: <ol><li>In iSeries Navigator,
|
||
|
|
expand <span class="uicontrol">My Connections</span> (or your active environment). </li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Expand the iSeries server
|
||
|
|
that is the primary node . </li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Configuration and Service</span>.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li> Expand <span class="uicontrol">Hardware</span>. </li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Disk Units</span>. </li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Sign on to service tools if the Service Tools Signon dialog box is displayed.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Disk Pools</span>.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li> Right-click the disk pool you want to make unavailable and select <span class="uicontrol">Make
|
||
|
|
Unavailable</span>. </li>
|
||

<li>From the dialog box that displays, click <span class="uicontrol">Make Unavailable</span> to
|
||
|
|
make the disk pool unavailable.</li>
