||

<p>If you cannot connect to IBM® Director (for example, when starting or
|
||
|
shutting down a server) take the following actions:</p>
|
||
|
<p><span class="bold"></span></p>
|
||
|
<ul>
|
||
|
<li>Wait five minutes and retry the operation.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Stop and restart IBM Director
|
||
|
<ul>
|
||
|
<li>At the i5/OS command line enter <tt>ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*DIRECTOR)</tt></li>
|
||
|
<li>It will take several minutes or more for Director server to stop. Status
|
||
|
of the stop process can be obtained by running the following from qsh: <tt>/qibm/userdata/director/bin/twgstat</tt>. After a few
|
||
|
minutes, it should eventually report "inactive" state.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Start the qsh interpreter by entering <tt>qsh</tt> at
|
||
|
the i5/OS command line.</li>
|
||
|
<li>From qsh run run: <tt>/qibm/userdata/director/bin/twgstart</tt></li></ul></li>
|
||
|
<li>Verify the IBM Director properties file configuration
|
||
|
<p>The IBM Director properties
|
||
|
file is installed during the IBM Director installation in the location
|
||
|
/QIBM/ProdData/Director/classes/com/ibm/sysmgt/app/iide/IIDETask.properties.</p>
|
||
|
<p>Verify that the IBM Director properties file exists. If it does not exist,
|
||
|
reinstall IBM Director or contact your service representative.</p></li>
|
||
|
<li>Verify that a port is specified in the IBM Director properties file.
|
||
|
<p>This file
|
||
|
should contain a line that specifies <tt>"port = <span class="bold-italic">xxxxx</span>"</tt> where <span class="bold-italic">xxxxx</span> is the port number. If the line does not exist, do these steps:</p>
|
||
|
<ol type="1">
|
||
|
<li>Edit the file and add a line that contains "port = 5779". 5779 is
|
||
|
the default port used for the i5/OS connection to IBM Director.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Restart IBM Director.</li></ol></li>
|
||
|
<li>Verify the port used by IBM Director is not in use by another application
|
||
|
<p>After starting IBM Director, verify that the port specified in the IBM Director
|
||
|
properties file is not in use by another application. </p>
|
||
|
<ol type="1">
|
||
|
<li>Using iSeries Navigator, expand <span class="bold">Network</span>—><span class="bold">TCP/IP Configuration</span>—><span class="bold">IPv4</span>—> <span class="bold">Connections</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Right-click the list entry that has the same port number in the <span class="bold">Local Port</span> column that was specified in the IBM Director properties file
|
||
|
and select <span class="bold">Jobs</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>In the jobs list, look for a job with job name <span class="bold">Qcpmgtsvr</span> and user <span class="bold">Qcpmgtdir</span>. This should be the only job
|
||
|
that is using the specified port.</li></ol>
|
||
|
<p>If there are any other jobs using the port, then you must change
|
||
|
the port that is used by IBM Director using these steps:</p>
|
||
|
<ol type="1">
|
||
|
<li>In the IBM Director properties file, change the port number specified
|
||
|
in the line <tt>"port = <span class="bold-italic">xxxxx</span>"</tt> where <span class="bold-italic">xxxxx</span> is the port number.</li>
|
||
|
