Page segments

Page segments are objects containing composed text and images that are
prepared before formatting and included during printing.

For example, you might want to repeat constant data at different positions
on a page or overlay. You might also want to repeat that data on different
pages or overlays. You can do this by using a page segment. A company logo
is an example of this type of data.

You can use the IBM® Infoprint® Designer for iSeries licensed program,
the Advanced Function Printing™ Utilities for iSeries™ licensed
program, the IBM Infoprint Server for iSeries licensed program, or the Advanced Function Presentation™ (AFP™) printer drivers provided with Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP, to create page segments
on the iSeries server. Page segments can also be downloaded from zSeries®. The page
segments must be stored in an accessible library.

When page segment data is received from the zSeries, you place it in a data file. To convert
the page data to a format that can be used by i5/OS, use the Create Page
Segment (CRTPAGSEG) command.
