<p>You can use the WebSphere administrative console to give users specific authority to administer WebSphere Application Server - Express using tools such as the WebSphere administrative console or wsadmin scripting. The authority checks are only performed when global security is enabled.</p>

<p>To add a console user or group, follow these steps:</p>

<li>In the topology tree, expand <strong>System Administration</strong> and click <strong>Console Users</strong> or <strong>Console Groups</strong>.</li>
<li>On the <strong>Console Users</strong> or <strong>Console Groups</strong> page, click <strong>Add</strong>.</li>
<li>Specify a name from the active user registry and one or more roles for the user or group.</li>
<li>Click <strong>OK</strong>.</li>

<p>To modify a console user or group, follow these steps:</p>
