<div><p>Use the graphical user interface provided by iSeries™ Navigator
to access and administer your server, or use the character-based interface
from an attached console or emulator session. You can also simplify your server
setup by using EZ-Setup. iSeries Navigator and EZ-Setup are included with
the iSeries Access
for Windows<sup>®</sup> licensed
program.</p>
<p>You can access the server using a graphical interface in iSeries Navigator
or using a character-based interface on a console or emulator session. You
can choose the interface based on your needs and the type of connection you
have with your server.</p>

iSeries Navigator is a graphical user interface that is used to interact with servers from a Windows desktop. It is the primary user interface for accessing and managing iSeries environments. With iSeries Navigator you can perform many functions with ease by incorporating wizards, customizable displays, and a wide variety of applications. All iSeries Navigator components are included with iSeries Access for Windows.</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rzatwezsetup2.htm">EZ-Setup</a></strong><br />
EZ-Setup is an application that simplifies server setup by identifying the server's business use and presenting a customized list of tasks. These tasks include wizards and step-by-step information for completing a server setup.</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="../rzal2/rzal2charinterface.htm">Character-based interface</a></strong><br />
The character-based interface is available from most emulator sessions or consoles and includes a menu-based hierarchy of tasks. A character-based interface provides three primary displays: navigational, input, and informational. All iSeries tasks are organized into categories accessible through the main menu. To move through the character-based interface's hierarchy of tasks, you enter menu selections until you find the task of interest.</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rzatwconconsoles.htm">Connect to iSeries: Consoles</a></strong><br />
Use Operations Console, twinaxial console, or Hardware Management
Console for eServer™ as
system consoles to access and administer your server. Operations Console is
available with the Windows client, the iSeries Access for Windows licensed
program. Hardware Management Console is available on some servers.</li>

Telnet is a protocol that allows you to log on and use a server as though you were connected directly to it within the local network. The server has the capability to act as a Telnet server and a Telnet client. Telnet provides a character-based interface and allows you to access your server from outside the local network.
