<p>Turning off your system takes careful attention. If you turn off the system
without completing the following tasks, data might be damaged or the system
might behave in unpredictable ways. The iSeries™ server provides several ways
to safely turn off your system.</p>
<ul><li>Use the Power Down System (PWRDWNSYS) command to either perform a controlled
shutdown operation or to shut down the system immediately.</li>
<li>You can stop the system using the Power On and Off Tasks (POWER) menu.
To get to the Power On and Off Tasks menu, type <span class="uicontrol">go power</span> on

<li>You can set up a schedule that automatically turns your system on and

off. You can determine the time of day that you want the system turned on
and off. You can also specify special circumstances that change the normal
daily schedule, such as a holiday or special closing.</li>
<li>In emergencies you can stop the system by using the Power button. However,
using the Power button might cause errors with your data files and other objects

on the system.</li>
