<h1 class="topictitle1">Causes of abnormal IPLs</h1>
|
||
|
|
<div><p>This topic describes some causes of an abnormal initial program
|
||
|
|
load (IPL).</p>
|
||
|
|
<p>An abnormal IPL can be caused by any of the following reasons:</p>
|
||
|
|
<ul><li>Using the End Job Abnormal (ENDJOBABN) command. To see if this command
|
||
|
|
has been used, look for message CPC1124 in the job log.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Using option 7 (Start a service tool), then option 7 (Operator panel function)
|
||
|
|
on the Dedicated Service Tool (DST) menu.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Using the Power button (on the control panel) instead of the Power Down
|
||
|
|
System (PWRDWNSYS) command.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Displaying a power failure before all data is written from main storage
|
||
|
|
to disk.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Using any B900 xxxx system reference code (where xxxx is any number or
|
||
|
|
letter) during the start of the operating system phase of the IPL.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Ending with a system reference code of B900 3F10, if a PWRDWNSYS command
|
||
|
|
that did not complete, .</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Causing the system to end by any function check in the controlling subsyste
|
||
|
|
.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Issuing a PWRDWNSYS command in the primary partition without first powering
|
||
|
|
down secondary partitions.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>The system going down when database recovery has not completed during
|
||
|
|
the IPL.</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>

<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If the ENDJOBABN command is issued, message CPI0990 will
|
||
|
|
be in QHST. For all other reasons, message CPI091D will be in QHST stating
|
||
|
|
why the IPL is abnormal.</div>
