<div><p>An important aspect of any data processing application is ensuring
that the correct control fields are specified. For job accounting codes, this
can require a complex validity-checking function that not only checks for
the existence of authentic codes, but also checks which users are allowed
to use specific codes.</p>
<div class="p">Accounting codes can be assigned in the following areas:<ul><li>User profile</li>
<li>Job description</li>
<li>In a job (Change Accounting Code (<span class="cmdname">CHGACGCDE</span>)
command)</li>
</ul>

<div class="section">If it is important to control the assignment of accounting codes,
consider the following:</div>
<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Before an accounting code is placed in a user profile, ensure that
the code is valid for a particular user.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Control the changing of accounting codes on the Change Job Description
(<span class="cmdname">CHGJOBD</span>) command by giving only the security officer authority
to the <span class="cmdname">CHGACGCDE</span> command. </span><ul><li>Or, use the <span class="cmdname">CHGACGCDE</span> command to allow users to
change the job accounting code of their own or another job. To change another
job, the user must also have the special authorization of *JOBCTL.</li>
</ul>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>Use a CL program and command to prevent changing accounting codes
for a job on the job queue or for one job to change the accounting code of
another job. </span> For example, the <span class="cmdname">CHGACGCDE</span> command
would be privately authorized and included in a CL program where it only changed
the current job (such as when JOB(*) is specified). The command would be authorized
appropriately.</li>
