<div><p>This topic provides information about the keep-alive exchange and

permanent virtual circuit (PVC) status change.</p>

<div class="section"> <dl><dt class="dlterm">Keep-alive exchange</dt>
|
||
|
|
<dd>Use the keep-alive exchange to maintain contact between the terminal
|
||
|
|
equipment (TE) and the frame handler (FH). It consists of an exchange of sequence
|
||
|
|
messages. <p>At intervals specified by the POLLITV parameter, the TE sends
|
||
|
|
status inquiry messages to the FH. The FH responds with a status message that
|
||
|
|
includes the correct sequence number (both status inquiry and status messages
|
||
|
|
include sequence numbers).</p>
|
||
|
|

<dt class="dlterm">PVC status change</dt>
|
||
|
|
<dd>After the number of status inquiry messages specified
|
||
|
|
by the FULLINQITV parameter have been completed, the TE requests a full status
|
||
|
|
from the FH. The FH responds with a status message that includes
|
||
|
|
a list of the PVCs assigned to the physical connection and the status of each
|
||
|
|
PVC. <p>You can use the Display Network Interface Description (DSPNWID) command
|
||
|
|
to show the PVC status reported by the network.</p>
