<div><p>After configuring LAN support, you are ready to enable your configuration
objects to accept connections.</p>
<div class="section"> <p> For Systems Network Architecture (SNA), you
enable or <a href="#connecting_to_network__connect_sna">vary on</a> the
line and controller descriptions. For TCP/IP, you can enable or <a href="#connecting_to_network__connect_tcp">start</a> the
interface.</p>
<p id="connecting_to_network__connect_sna"><a name="connecting_to_network__connect_sna"><!-- --></a><strong>Vary on configuration objects:</strong></p>
<p>To
accept connections, you must vary on the configuration objects by using the
Work with Configuration Status (WRKCFGSTS) command as follows:</p>

<ol><li><span>Type WRKCFGSTS *LIN and press Enter.</span></li>
<li><span>Locate your line description.</span></li>
<li><span>Move your cursor to the Opt field of the line description, type
1 (Vary on), and press Enter.</span></li>
<li><span>If the line description does not vary on successfully, press F3
(Exit). Then you should read <a href="../rzajt/rzajtrzajtprbcommesqueinsts.htm">Display message queues</a> to understand how to view the
error messages and to find possible solutions.</span></li>
<li><span>Press F3 (Exit).</span></li>
</ol>
<div class="section"> <p>If the line description varied on successfully, you should do
the same for the controller description if you created one. Vary on the description
by using the same instructions for varying on the line description. Instead
of specifying *LIN for the WRKCFGSTS command, you must specify *CTL.</p>
<p id="connecting_to_network__connect_tcp"><a name="connecting_to_network__connect_tcp"><!-- --></a><strong>Start the TCP/IP interface</strong>:</p>
<p>To enable the interface,
use <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> Navigator to do
these steps:</p>
<ol><li>In <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> Navigator, expand
the server that contains the TCP/IP interface to start.</li>
<li>Select <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Protocol</span></span>.</li>
<li>Right-click <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Interface</span>.</li>
<li>You can start the interface now, or every time TCP/IP starts. <ol type="a"><li><span><strong>To start the interface now</strong>:</span> <ol type="i"><li>Select an inactive interface.</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Start</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to close the dialog box.</li>
</ol>

<li><strong>To start the interface every time TCP/IP starts: </strong><ol type="i"><li>Double-click the interface.</li>
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Start interface when TCP/IP is started</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</li>
