If EXEC SQL starts before the left margin (as specified with the MARGINS parameter, the default), the SQL precompiler will not recognize the statement as an SQL statement. Consequently, it will be passed as is to the compiler.</li>

If EXEC SQL starts before column 12, the SQL precompiler will not recognize the statement as an SQL statement. Consequently, it will be passed as is to the compiler.</li>
