|
||
|
<div><p>Scheduled I/O processor moves are successful only if the LPAR configuration
|
||
|
does not create any "In Use" or "Unknown State" warnings for the I/O processor.</p>
|
||
|
<div class="section"><p>You must make sure that all I/O adapters under this I/O processor
|
||
|
are varied off before the scheduled task runs. You can also schedule the vary
|
||
|
off of the I/O adapters by creating and scheduling a Command Definition in
|
||
|
the Management Central folder.</p>
|
||
|
<p>All scheduled IOP moves might not be
|
||
|
valid when the primary partition has been restarted. Each IOP move uses an
|
||
|
LPAR System Resource ID to identify which IOP you want to move. The LPAR Resource
|
||
|
ID is valid as long as the primary partition has not been restarted. This
|
||
|
implementation only applies to the IOP scheduling function and does not apply
|
||
|
to the scheduling of interactive performance, memory, or processing power.</p>
|
||
|
<div class="attention"><span class="attentiontitle">Attention:</span> Use caution when selecting "Remove hardware resource information
|
||
|
from source partition" for a scheduled I/O processor move because this removes
|
||
|
hardware resource information from the partition that owns the I/O processor
|
||
|
when the move runs.</div>
|
||
|
<p>To schedule an I/O processor move using My Connections,
|
||
|
follow these steps:</p>
|
||
|

||

<ol><li><span>Ensure that any devices attached to the I/O processor you want
|
||
|
to move are not busy. The devices should be varied off and listed as unavailable
|
||
|
hardware.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>In iSeries™ Navigator,
|
||
|
expand <span class="uicontrol">My Connections</span> or your active environment.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Select the primary partition of the system.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Configuration and Service</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Logical
|
||
|
Partitions</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Right-click the <span class="uicontrol">Logical Partition</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Configure
|
||
|
Partitions</span>. You are now working in the Configure Logical Partitions
|
||
|
window.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Select the partition from which you want to move I/O processors.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Right-click the I/O processor you want to move and select <span class="uicontrol">Move</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Schedule</span> to specify when you want
|
||
|
the move to occur.</span></li>

<li>In iSeries Navigator,
|
||
|
select <span class="uicontrol">My Connections</span> or your active environment.</li>

<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Open iSeries Navigator service tools window</span> in
|
||
|
the Taskpad window. If the Taskpad window is not displayed, select <span class="uicontrol">View</span> and
|
||
|
select <span class="uicontrol">Taskpad</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Enter the <span class="uicontrol">IP address</span> of the service tool network
|
||
|
interface to which you want to connect. Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>You will be prompted for your <span class="uicontrol">Service Tools User ID and password</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Expand the system name select <span class="uicontrol">Logical Partitions</span>.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Right-click the logical partition and select <span class="uicontrol">Configure Partitions</span>.
|
||
|
You are now working in the Configure Logical Partitions window.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Select the partition from which you want to move I/O processors.</li>
|
||
|
<li>Right-click the I/O processor you want to move and select <span class="uicontrol">Move</span>.</li>
