<h1 class="topictitle1">Manage access using iSeries Navigator</h1>
<div><p>You can limit access to File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server or
client by using Application Administration in iSeries™ Navigator. Application Administration
is component of iSeries Navigator
that you can choose to install.</p>
<div class="section"><p>You can use iSeries Navigator to limit user access to FTP server
and client functions. Use Application Administration to grant and deny access
to functions for individual users or for groups of users. Alternatively, you
can manage access to FTP functions by writing FTP exit programs for the FTP
Request Validation Exit Points.</p>
<p>To manage user access to functions using iSeries Navigator,
complete the following steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>In iSeries Navigator,
right-click <span class="uicontrol">your iSeries server</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Application
Administration</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Select the <span class="uicontrol">Host Applications</span> tab.</span></li>
<li><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP Utilities for iSeries</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">File Transfer Protocol (FTP)</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">FTP Client</span> or <span class="uicontrol">FTP Server</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Select the function that you want to allow or deny access to.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Customize</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Use the <span class="uicontrol">Customize Usage</span> dialog to change
the list of users and groups that are allowed or denied access to the function.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to save changes to the <span class="uicontrol">Customize
Access</span> page.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to exit the <span class="uicontrol">Application
Administration</span> page.</span></li>
</ol>
<div class="section"><p>Alternatively, you can manage the access that a specific user or
group has to registered FTP functions through iSeries Navigator's Users and Groups
management tool. To do this, follow these steps:</p>
<ol><li>In iSeries Navigator,
expand <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">your iSeries server</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Users
and Groups</span></span>.</li>
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">All Users</span> or <span class="uicontrol">Groups</span>.</li>
<li>Right-click a user or group, then select <span class="uicontrol">Properties</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Capabilities</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Applications</span>. <p>From here, you can change
the user or group's settings for the listed function. You can also can change
the settings for all functions in a hierarchy grouping by changing the settings
of the "parent" function.</p>
