<div><p>If you already have iSeries™ Access for Windows<sup>®</sup> installed,
|
||
|
|
use this information to learn how to upgrade to a newer release.</p>
|
||
|
|
<div class="p">If you have <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span> installed
|
||
|
|
and want to upgrade to a newer release, you should be aware of the following: <ul><li>You can install additional functions or remove functions when you upgrade <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span>.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Only users with administrator authority can perform upgrades to new releases.
|
||
|
|
You can use the Windows <a href="rzaijremotetasks.htm#remotetasks">Scheduled
|
||
|
|
tasks feature with remote access</a> to allow your users to do upgrades
|
||
|
|
without administrator privileges.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>If the source you are using for your <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span> upgrade
|
||
|
|
does not have a component you had installed in your earlier release of <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span>, then the missing component(s)
|
||
|
|
will be automatically uninstalled during an upgrade.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>If the 56-bit Client Encryption is installed, it will be upgraded to the
|
||
|
|
128-bit Client Encryption during the upgrade.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Beginning with V5R2, iSeries Access for Windows has not supported mail APIs
|
||
|
|
(MAPI). When you upgrade, MAPI will be automatically uninstalled from your
|
||
|
|
PC. If you are upgrading from an earlier release that still uses MAPI to tie
|
||
|
|
directly to the system distribution directory for storing user information,
|
||
|
|
it is recommended that you migrate from using the system distribution directory
|
||
|
|
to using <a href="rzaijldapdirectory.htm#ldapdirectory">Publish directory information to LDAP</a>. </li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Beginning with V5R3, the function contained in the iSeries Navigator Application Development
|
||
|
|
installable component is now in the iSeries Navigator Network installable
|
||
|
|
component.</li>
|
||
|
|
