<div><p>Learn how to access your iSeries™ server using a Windows<sup>®</sup> PC.</p>
<p>IBM<sup>®</sup> eServer™ iSeries Access
for Windows is
a key offering in the <span class="keyword">5722-XE1</span> product.
Pre-V5R2 versions of IBM eServer iSeries Access for Windows were
called Client Access Express. IBM eServer iSeries Access for Windows offers
a powerful set of capabilities for connecting PCs to iSeries servers. Users and application
programmers can use it to leverage business information, applications, and
resources across an enterprise by extending the iSeries resources to the PC desktop.
Integrated graphical user interface (GUI) functions deliver increased productivity
for users who access resources on iSeries servers.</p>
<p>iSeries Access
for Windows is
compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server
2003 operating systems.</p>
<p>IBM eServer iSeries Access
for Windows has
the following features:</p>
<ul><li>It is a Windows client used over TCP/IP.</li>
<li>It is a full-function client that includes a 5250 display and printer
emulator, includes iSeries Navigator to manage your iSeries server,
provides accessibility to DB2<sup>®</sup> UDB for iSeries files, and much more.</li>
<li><img src="./delta.gif" alt="Start of change" />It communicates with iSeries servers over a secure connection
that uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. In addition, it supports
FIPS-compliance (Federal Information Processing Standards), via a client-side,
SSL encryption switch. <img src="./deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></li>
<li>It provides a streamlined installation which also gives administrators
more flexibility and control.</li>
<li>It is Java-compatible.</li>
<li>It uses file and print serving capabilities integrated into the iSeries Support
for Windows Network
Neighborhood (iSeries NetServer™)
function.</li>
<li>It includes an extensive number of application programming interfaces
(APIs), such as APIs for ODBC, Active X, ADO, OLE DB, and ADO.NET.</li>
