<h4 id="rzahqverifydriver">Verify that the tape drive device driver is loaded</h4>
<p><img src="delta.gif" alt="Start of change" />Before applications running on an integrated server can use
the iSeries tape drive, the device driver must be loaded on the integrated
server. This is typically automatic. For more information about supported
tape drives, see <a href="rzahqsupporteddrives.htm#rzahqsupporteddrives">Supported iSeries tape drives</a>.<img src="deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></p>
<p>To ensure that the tape device driver is loaded, follow these steps.</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>On the Windows server task bar, click <span class="bold">Start</span>, then <span class="bold">Programs</span>, then <span class="bold">Administrative Tools.</span></li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Computer Management</span>, then <span class="bold">System Tools</span>, then <span class="bold">Device Manager</span>.</li>
<li>Expand the icon with your computer's name on it. If a tape device is loaded,
a Tape Device icon appears.</li>
<li>Expand the <span class="bold">Tape device</span> icon to see the loaded tape
device drivers.</li></ol>
<p><img src="delta.gif" alt="Start of change" />If you have an IBM iSeries&trade; Tape Drive that does not require a
third party driver and need to manually load device drivers, complete these
steps at the integrated server console.<img src="deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></p>

<li>Click on <span class="bold">Start</span>, then <span class="bold">Settings</span>,
then <span class="bold">Control Panel</span>.</li>
<li>Click on <span class="bold">Add/Remove Hardware</span>.</li>
<li>On the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard, click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Add/Troubleshoot a device</span> and click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>On the <span class="bold">Choose a Hardware Device</span> section of the Add/Remove
Hardware Wizard window, choose <span class="bold">Add a new device</span> and
click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>From the <span class="bold">Find New Hardware</span> section of the Add/Remove
Hardware Wizard window, choose "No, I want to select the hardware from a list,"
and click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>On the Hardware Type section, scroll down the combo box to <span class="bold">Tape drives</span>, select it, and click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>In the Manufacturers pane of the Select a Device Driver section, select <span class="bold">IBM</span>. In the Models pane, select <span class="bold">IBM&reg; iSeries Tape
Drive</span> and click <span class="bold">Next</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Next</span> on the "IBM iSeries Tape Drive" section
of this window.</li>
<li>If the "Files Needed" box appears, enter <tt>%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers</tt>, where C: is your system drive, into the "Copy files from" box. Click <span class="bold">OK</span>.</li>
<li>On the "Completing the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" section of the Add/Remove
Hardware Wizard window, click <span class="bold">Finish</span>. All the tape devices
should load.</li>
<li>After restarting your computer, repeat steps 1 &ndash; 4 to confirm that
your devices are loaded.</li><img src="deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></ol>
