Considerations for the automatic creation of APPC controller descriptions
on the LAN

The automatic creation of advanced program-to-program communications (APPC)
controller and device descriptions is done in the communications arbiters
(QCMNARBxx) jobs. Consider changing these default parameters based on your
environment and potential error recovery considerations.

When the APPC controller is automatically configured by default, the system
sets these values in the APPC controller description:

Set the ONLINE parameter to *NO.

Set the INLCNN parameter to *DIAL.

Set the DIALINIT parameter to *LINKTYPE.

Set the APPN parameter to *YES.

Set the SWTDSC parameter to *YES.

Set the MINSWTSTS parameter to *VRYONPND.

Set the AUTODLTDEV parameter to 1440.

Note:

The default settings
above may not be desirable for your network. If this is the case, consider
using a model controller and change these parameter values if you find unnecessary
recovery attempts.

When configuring your LAN, use the AUTOCRTCTL parameter on the following
commands:

CHGLINDDI

CHGLINETH

CHGLINTRN

CHGLINWLS

CRTLINDDI

CRTLINETH

CRTLINTRN

CRTLINWLS

Note:

The AUTOCRTCTL function finds and varies on existing
APPN controller descriptions if a matching one is found. Thus, you can use
the AUTOCRTCTL function to eliminate the need to vary on the configuration
objects at initial program load (IPL) time. The system varies them on as needed.
