<div><p>To use the IBM<sup>®</sup> <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> PASE
native methods for Java™ example, you need to set environment
variables.</p>
<div class="section"><dl><dt class="dlterm"><strong>PASE_LIBPATH</strong></dt>
<dd>Your iSeries™ server
uses this <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE environment
variable to identify the location of <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE
native method libraries. You can set the path to a single directory or to
multiple directories. For multiple directories, use a colon (:) to separate
entries. Your server can also use the LIBPATH environment variable. <p>For
more information about using Java, native method libraries, and PASE_LIBPATH
with this example, see <a href="rzahapaseexmplslibrary.htm">Using Java, <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE, and native method libraries</a>.</p>

<dt class="dlterm"><strong>PASE_THREAD_ATTACH</strong></dt>
<dd>Setting this <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE
environment variable to Y causes an ILE thread that was not started by <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE to be attached automatically
to <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE when it calls
an <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE procedure. <p>For

<dd>The JVM uses this environment variable to start an <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE
environment. The value of the variable identifies an <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> PASE
